The Yunnan International Festival of Russian Music is China’s first international music competition centered on Russian music repertoire, aiming to discover and cultivate outstanding music talent and promote deep international cultural and artistic exchange.

The 2026-2027 “China-Russia Education Year” follows the successful 2025 “China-Russia Culture Year” as another national-level thematic year, with bilateral student exchange surpassing 80,000 and university partnerships steadily expanding. Against this backdrop, this festival is jointly launched by leading Chinese and Russian music institutions, benchmarked against top-tier international competitions, and stands as a rare Chinese international music event with chamber music as its core evaluation dimension.

The festival pioneers a “Solo + Chamber” dual-track scoring: finalists in the Artist category must perform a piano trio live with professional violinists and cellists, playing classic works by Arensky or Mendelssohn. The jury comprises authoritative experts from China, Russia, Italy, Korea and beyond, ensuring globally aligned assessment and professional standards.
